The Songhai Center is an agroecological training, production, research and innovation center, created in 1985 in Porto-Novo (Benin) by Father Godfrey Nzamujo. Its mission is to promote a model of sustainable development based on integrated agriculture, entrepreneurship, and the enhancement of local African resources. The center operates through an integrated ecological system: its activities (agriculture, livestock, fish farming, agri-food processing, and renewable energy) are interconnected in order to limit waste and maximize resources. This approach draws inspiration from the concept of “ZERI” (Zero Emission Research Initiative), based on production without waste.
General presentation of the center: a place to bring together stories, strengthen ties between generations, and support initiatives that keep Songhai memory alive.
