| Acquisition of new agricultural machines: the mechanization of agriculture |

The hoe and other small tools usually used in agriculture will soon be a thing of the past in Songhaï. The mechanization of agriculture which Songhai began just had a great progress. 88 packages of agricultural machines ordered from China arrived last month. They were comprised of 9 power-tillers of which 6 small ones, 3 sets of multi-purpose transplanting machines, 3 harvesters, an important set of accessories, 9 motor-pumps and 9 three-phase generators. The Chinese technicians who are to assemble the machines finished their work and these new agricultural machineries are now ready to be used on the different Songhai sites. The machineries have been tested in Porto-Novo and Kinwedji sites. This is only the beginning as other agricultural equipments are expected soon.
