This
literary work, which has been written 15 years following the beginning
of the Songhai activities, describes the goals of the Institute,
and allows Father Nzamujo to present what Songhai is today and what
he hopes it will become in the future.
Songhai
resides in the heart of the man who understands what is at stake
for Africa today. It is therefore a method of seeing the world,
particularly Africa. It is a method of reasoning that comes from
the earth and returns to it, having explored science, logic, cultural
significance, and spirituality. It is also a community view that
is constantly refined by the sharing and debating of positive and
negative experiences in a manner that avoids harsh criticism and
arrogance.
Songhai
is therefore an avenue of training and initiation for men and women
who wish to become proactive - who refuse to spend their time complaining
about the negative aspects of Africa, but who decide to roll up
their sleeves and work with what they have been given. It is for
these people that Songhai offers a place to live with dignity and
to develop.
Far
from pretending that it is THE MODEL to follow, the author signals
that it is merely one proposition for those who seek to triumph
in life over death. For those who hope that tomorrow will be more
just and fraternal if each person invests the best of himself regarding
the African development perspective.
